Tour Duration: about 8:00 - 18:00
Our professional English-speaking guide will greet you in the lobby of your hotel at the appointed time. We will contact you to fix the exact meeting time the evening before. We will leave for Zhujiajiao as soon as everyone is picked up. It is about an hour's ride from downtown Shanghai to Zhujiajiao, an ancient water town.
In centuries past Zhujiajiao was a trading area: the many canals were used to ferry products along in little boats and barges. Boats are still very much part of the charm of the place. Small boats are ubiquitous there, functioning as a nice way to get a view of the town and experience local life. See our cruise guide on Zhujiajiao.
You will be taking a gondola with our guide on the waterway to view the face of old town from a different angle at your pace. Your group will be 4 to 6 people, offering good flexibility. If you want some more time for taking photos, or you have more questions about the history and architecture, just let your guide know.
We have selected a fancy restaurant by the side of the waterway for our VIP small group. In addition to sampling the local cuisine, you will experience great views of the water village while having lunch on the second floor of the restaurant.
Full and happy, we drive back to the center of Shanghai to visit the World Financial Center. To avoid queuing up for the entrance ticket, we will purchase your tickets online in advance. We will go all the way up to the observation deck on the 100th floor, where there is an excellent view of China's fastest growing city.
After driving for about 10 minutes, we will arrive at the well-Known Bund, a 1500-meter long waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River. As we walk along the Bund, we will capture the glamour of old Shanghai through its many Euramerican style buildings on the west and marvel at its modernity via the towering skyscrapers on the east. Our guide will help you get some great photos with these buildings in the background if you want.
We will transfer you to your hotel at the end of the tour, or, if you need to catch a flight or a train after the tour, we are more than happy to help you arrange it. Please let us know.
